My Skincare Routine

Hello! Welcome to #macaron, my little space to chat about the boatload of skincare products that I've tried in my quest for clear skin.

I'm always looking for something better and sampling new products so I tend to change products quite often but I've stuck to the same routine (for the most part) for years.

MORNING ROUTINE
My day routine is focused on hydration and preventing skin damage
Cleanser // I'm currently using Sukin Sensitive Cleansing Lotion, which is a gentle milk cleanser. Once every few days I'll use the REN ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser - anything more frequent tends to aggravate my skin!
Lotion // My favourite is Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist, followed by Sukin Hydrating Mist Toner. The balance Me Hydrating Face Mist is nice too
Eye Cream // Elemis Marine Cream
Oils/Serums // They say that suncream alone isn't enough to prevent skin damage so I team it up with an anti-oxidant serum. My favourite is SkinCeuticals Serum 10, a Vitamin C based serum. SkinCeuticals C.E.Ferulic is technically a better product, but contains Vitamin E which can aggravate spots/acne.
Occasionally, I'll also use a hydrating serum or 'booster' in place of moisturiser. I reviewed a handful of products here, but the current favourites are SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel and Dermalogica's Skin Hydrating Booster.
Moisturiser // Omorovicza Illuminating Moisturiser
Sun Cream // I only use mineral based suncreams - the best I've used are Astalift Day Protector SPF 35 (no longer sold in the UK wtf?) and SkinCeuticals Sheer Mineral Defence SPF 50, neither of which leave a ghostly white cast. I've also used John Masters Organics SPF 30 Natural Mineral Sunscreen. That one doubles up as a moisturiser as it contains shea butter, but has a slightly slippery feel.
I seal it all in with all with a spriz of lotion.

EVENING ROUTINE
My evening routine is quite similar to my day routine. I use many of the same hydrating products, but follow up with products designed to treat skin problems (spots and hyperpigmentation)
Eye Make-up Remover // I used to buy Bi-Facil, until I discovered Bioderma. Works perfectly, suitable for super sensitive skin and is much cheaper!
First Cleanse // I much prefer cleansing balms to cleansing oils nowadays and have tried plenty of both! Check out the reviews via the sidebar.
Second Cleanse // I'm alternating between Sukin Cleansing Lotion and Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel, which can also be used on the first cleanse. I always keep a bottle of Bioderma Eau Micellaire handy too.
Lotion // same as daytime
Eye Cream // same as daytime
Oils/Serums // I pick n choose depending on my mood and state of my skin
Anti-oxidant: Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+ or Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil
Hydrating: REN Omega 3 Optimum Skin Oil (infrequently) Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective Gel
Restoratove: balance Me Radiance Face Oil
Redness/Irritation/Acne: Darphin Chamomile Essential Oil
Multiplayer: Darphin 8-Flower Nectar. Does everything and smells heavenly. It costs a bomb though so I make the most of generous sample sizes by reserving it Friday night pampering
Targeted Treatments // Jan Marini Bioglycolic Bioclear Lotion. This is a very, very good product - preparing for a full review :)
Moisturiser // If I'm not using a mask or treatment (glycolic acid, malic acid, lactic acid etc), I'll use the Omorovicza Rejuvenating Night Cream. Ambrosial is the best word for it.

And there it is! I'll update with links etc. as I get through the reviews... In the meantime, feel free to leave a comment, e-mail me at celine.serein[at]hotmail.co.uk unless you're intending to spam, sue for copyright infringement etc. Also, please follow me on Bloglovin. Chu!
